We elected to dine on the outdoor patio to take in the views of the harbor and ferry traffic. The patio is located near the Star Line Ferry dock -- an excellent location indeed. What we were unaware of, however, is that there is a separate menu for patio diners that's independent of those dining inside. Apparently, this goes for drinks as well as our server informed me upon ordering a tap beer that 'I would have to go inside and get my own' as she 'wouldn't have time to go inside and get me one.' I was rather taken aback by this as repeatedly refusing to serve customers beer is A) a turn-off and B) would likely eat into the restaurant's margins over time -- as my pint of beer ( a local IPA which I ultimately fetched myself) rang up at a hefty $7. This experience warrants 1 star for service, but is buoyed by great views and patio ambiance. We ordered burgers and they were good. The overall experience was dragged down by poor service.

The chicken and garlic mashed potatoes was excellent! I would give it 6 stars if I could. Juicy and tasty!
Mary’s is a nice restaurant and pub on the island to enjoy a craft beer, good food, and a view over the water of the harbor that is hard to beat. Unfortunately the outside patio has its own bar with only two taps rather than the dozens inside, but there are still good choices and the ambiance and view more than make up for it. The food is quite good too, especially the sandwiches which are pretty huge. Sit out on the back deck and enjoy watching the ferries come and go while you sit back and relax with a cool beer.
I love Mary's Bistro! Packed full or lightly populated, the staff is friendly and good. I was here June and Sep 2017. They have THE BEST beer selection--I will come back from Arkansas year after year! The food is delicious, specifically the truffle fries topped with Parmesan and accompanied with lemon aoli ***cue Homer Simpson drool*** Pot pie is amazing, with chicken so tender you can easily bite right through it and big chunks of veggies in a savory creamy gravy topped with the crispy, flaky pastry of your dreams. The MACK and cheese is velvety and so full of flavor from the MI cheddar, braised pork, and crispy leeks (think tiny onion rings). I've hopped all over Mackinac Island over the years, and I think Mary's Bistro is a must for anyone visiting the Island.
Service was good, food presentation of both pork chop and spitfire chicken was excellent. I only gave 4 stars because prices were a little high for the average amount of food. Both dinner plates were over $20, left a little hungry!
