We had a great time here. The room we stayed in was a basic room with a queen bed and a pullout couch. It's about 1.5-2.0 miles off the main streets it's secluded and quiet at night. The photos I attached show what it looks like at daybreak, from the bed, and the sunset you can mostly see. The room looked out at St. Ignace which looked nice with the lights at night. I'd give it 5 stars, but the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything going on in the room next to you.
Sunset Condos is where we will be next year. This place is a good balance between price, location and a relaxing environment. Charcoal Grills, Full Kitchen (plates, glasses, utensils, pans and etc) washer/dryer, fireplace, deck (table and chairs). My take on decor. To answer some of the other posts, these are units designed to be rented in my opinion. I could tell that my unit was older however I could also tell they keep up on the painting, carpet and cleanliness. The kitchen area looked like it had been updated recently with cabinets, hardwood floors and appliances. Our goal was to stay on the island and not break the bank on eating out and this condo was perfect for that. MY TIP: ask what unit you are getting and condition. If you expect this place to be a luxury hotel then you will fall way short of that expectation. However if you want a good place to stay with a kitchen and away from the "downtown" area of Mackinac Island, then this is it.
Had a fantastic time . Rented a condo suite. It included a fireplace ,complete kitchen , washer/ dryer , Outdoor BBQ grill . It was quiet & the staff were pleasant . Couldn't have asked for a better place !! Will be back next year !!
Far enough from town to be rid of the touristy crowds, but close enough to walk into town on a nice day. Besides being in an ideal location, the condos are clean, cozy, and the perfect place for those who want to experience the natural beauty of the island. There are plenty of bike trails near by and paths to hike.
We stayed at the Applewood suite A204. The unit itself was as described and the location was off the beaten path (1.6 miles) from the doc and was great. However, the there were adjoining doors to connect to the other rooms and between the large gap in the bottom and the paper thin walls we could hear everything in the unit next to us and they were just talking at a normal conversation level. Then came the 1:30 wake up call from the neighbors when they got home from the bars. The price, location and amenities are great, but the noise level if you get a party group next door ruins everything.
OH, one more thing. These units do not have A/C. This was not an issue for us since the nights where between 50-60 degrees which cooled down the condo quickly.
