Amazing day even in the rain- we had a wonderful time. We all enjoyed ourselves on the carriage tour, during lunch at the Grand Hotel buffet, shopping downtown, and our ferry ride under the bridge.

Beautiful scenery, and lots of fun stuff to do and see.

Highly recommend it for everyone!

A truly dreamy place! The sounds of the horse carriage... water splashing up the shores.. cool breeze.. calm and beautiful...no cars!!.. definitely takes you back in time!! A stay at the Grand Hotel is a must do.. A night walk in the streets (as you hear the music from the local bar) and by the lake.. was out of the world! Should definitely try the Chocolate fudge! And rent the cycle to move around the island. Absolutely surreal!!

Gorgeous island with such beautiful views . No cars on the island , only bicycles and horse carriages. Great place for a weekend getaway! Restaurants are available as well and lodges for those that want to stay a couple of days. Great for hikers too! Definitely recommend it especially in the summer

Victorian era main street offers huge assortment of cheap to chic shops. Plenty of food options at larger hotels and in town area, from qwik bites to upscale dining. Steaks and seafood dominate, but vegetarians are not forgotten. Menus are posted in front windows of most establishments. Ferry service to and from island starts very early. Mainland dockside parking fee required. Out lots free. Two ferry lines serving Mackinaw City and St. Ignace.

One of America's Best places .... A "Somewhere in Time" destination not to be missed! NO CARS!! Transportation consisting of horse drawn carriages, or individual bicycle rentals available at ferry docks, or, you walk! Island Lodging features a wide range of choices, from small inns to lavish resorts. ALL are pricy. Some locations fill up months in advance.
